Porter Regional Hospital Announces Special Mammogram Events for Women During May
4/18/2019
Porter Health Care System presents two upcoming programs for convenient mammograms and tasty treats.
In Valparaiso, the Think Pink event takes place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday May 2 in the Center for Women’s Health at Porter Regional Hospital’s Medical Plaza, 85 East US Highway 6. Women can get their annual mammograms and receive complimentary wine, cheese and other appetizers. Chair massages will also be available.
Pink at Portage takes place from 7 a.m. to Noon, Saturday May 4, in the Center for Women’s Health at Portage Hospital, 3630 Willowcreek Road in Portage. In addition to getting their annual mammograms women will receive a complimentary brunch.
Mammograms are an essential tool to the early detection of breast cancer. Early detection is important, as the chances of the successful treatment of breast cancer are greater in the beginning stages, with an increased range of treatment options, less extensive surgery and better outcomes. The American Cancer Society recommends that women age 40 or older, or those considered at risk, receive a mammogram each year.
To participate in Pink at Portage Hospital or Think Pink at Porter Regional Hospital, a woman must be age 40 or older and know the date of her last mammogram. Insurance will be charged and generally covers one screening mammogram per year. The Women’s Centers at Portage Hospital and Porter Regional Hospital offer 3D mammography.
