Northwest Health Hospitals Go All Out with Halloween Fun for Staff and Familie
10/30/2025
Halloween was in full swing at Northwest Health – La Porte and Northwest Health – Porter this week, where both hospitals hosted festive Trunk-or-Treat events for their staff and families. The celebrations were filled with creativity, laughter, and plenty of Halloween spirit - showing once again how both hospitals care not just for patients, but for each other.
A parking lot at each hospital was transformed into a Halloween wonderland with themed trunks, colorful costumes, face painting, music, and, of course, plenty of treats. Staff and their families showed up as wizards, superheroes, pirates, and movie characters, turning the event into a joyful mix of fun and friendly competition.
For Dan Doherty FACHE, the new CEO at Northwest Health – Porter, it was the perfect way to get to know more of his team on what was his second day at the organization. “I loved being part of this,” Doherty said. “It was good to meet so many of our staff outside of work, and to meet their families, too. Events like this remind us how important it is to take a break and enjoy time together.”
At Northwest Health – La Porte, the annual event has become a beloved tradition. “We do this every year for our employees and their families,” said Mark Casanova, CEO of Northwest Health – La Porte. “It’s a fun way to say thank you and to remind everyone how much they’re appreciated.”
These celebrations gave team members the chance to take a break from the fast pace of hospital life and simply enjoy time together. Kids compared costumes and filled their candy buckets, parents caught up with coworkers, and teams who usually collaborate on patient care got to share laughs and treats instead.
As the evening came to a close, it was clear that the Trunk-or-Treats weren’t just about Halloween — they were about gratitude, community, and the people who spend their days helping the community get well and live healthier.
