New family doctor in Chesterton focuses on trusting relationships

CHESTERTON, IN (October 25, 2016) – Growing up in a close-knit community much like Chesterton, Shalini Patel, M.D., always knew she wanted to help others in a medical capacity.

After receiving her medical degree from American University of Antigua, Patel completed her family medicine residency at University of Illinois at Rockford through the Dixon Rural Training Track, where she gained the experience and skill to treat patients of all ages.

“My passion for family medicine stems from a desire to advocate for the health and well-being of our community. I want to provide diligent care and develop trusting, therapeutic relationships in an environment where my patients are heard and at the forefront of the decision-making process.”

Patel’s areas of interest include pediatrics, adult and geriatric medicine, outpatient procedures, chronic disease management, and preventive medicine.
