Porter Health Care System Expands Neurosurgery & Spine Team, adds Neurosurgeon

Porter Health Care System continues to expand its Porter Physician Group. Sean Dardeau, CEO of Porter Regional Hospital and Northwest Indiana Market CEO has announced the addition of a second neurosurgeon to Porter Physician Group. Dr. Ippei Takagi, joins Neurosurgeon Jonathan Hobbs, M.D. in their office on the Porter Regional Hospital campus in Valparaiso.
Dr. Takagi specializes in back/neck pain, degenerative disc disease, sciatica, herniated disc, spinal deformity/instability, spinal tumors, cervical spine surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, revision surgery and spinal instrumentation.
Dardeau, remarked, “Dr. Takagi is a welcome addition to Porter Physician Group as we see a continued need for neurosurgical care in our region. By joining Dr. Hobbs, our team can accommodate more patients who need complex brain and spine surgery, allowing them to stay close to home rather than travel out of Northwest Indiana for treatment. “
Dr. Takagi received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago then completed a Neurological Surgery Residency at the University of Chicago Medical Center and subsequent Complex Spine Surgery Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Takagi recently relocated to the Midwest from Las Vegas, Nevada to be closer to his family.
