Northwest Health Offers Free Seminar about Understanding Hearing Loss
7/25/2025
Struggling to hear conversations, the TV or everyday sounds once easily noticed may be a sign of hearing loss. Left unaddressed, it can lead to frustration, social withdrawal and difficulty staying engaged in daily activities.
Northwest Health – Porter will offer a one-hour seminar called, “Hearing Loss – and What You Can Do About It,” for individuals or family members of someone who may be experiencing difficulty hearing or showing signs of hearing loss. The free seminar will take place from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2025, at Northwest Health – Porter, Community Room, 85 E. U.S. Highway 6, Valparaiso.
Hearing loss is a common health condition. An estimated 1.5 billion people in the world have some degree of hearing loss, according to the World Health Organization. During the seminar, Audiologist Allison Witte, Au.D., with Northwest Medical Group, will discuss:
- Common signs and symptoms of hearing loss
- Health conditions linked to hearing loss
- Understanding tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
- Modern treatment options
- How hearing aids work – and how to know if you need one
There will be time for questions at the end of the seminar, which is part of the Northwest Health HealthyU series, a wellness program that provides free seminars on various health and wellness topics for the community.
