Northwest Health – La Porte Named One of Money Magazine’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care

Northwest Health – La Porte recently earned recognition as one of the Best Hospitals for Maternity Care in America by Money magazine based on data provided by The Leapfrog Group. The Leapfrog Group is a nonprofit organization that aims to help consumers make informed decisions about their health and access safe, high-value care. For over two decades, it has collected and published data on patient safety and quality of care from voluntary surveys and other sources.
About Money Magazine’s Best Hospitals for Maternity Care List
To compile its new list of the top hospitals in the country for maternity care, Money magazine, in partnership with the Leapfrog Group, used maternity care data submitted via the 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Survey.
To qualify for the list, eligible hospitals were required to carry an A or B letter grade on the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade assessment for spring 2022. Hospitals were also required to meet criteria specific to providing maternity care.
The 259 hospitals that made the cut are a combination of hospitals that provide care for uncomplicated pregnancies, as well as hospitals that provide care for high-risk deliveries, such as offering neonatal intensive care units, etc.

Earlier this year, Northwest Health – La Porte was selected as one of the Best Maternity Hospitals in the United States by Newsweek and the data firm Statista. It was one of only 13 Indiana hospitals selected. The selection was based on the evaluation on three data sources: a nationwide online survey in which hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals; medical key performance indicator data relevant to maternity care; and patient satisfaction data.
