New Prairie High School Partners with Northwest Health to Provide Athletic Training Services

Northwest Health recently announced that it will be providing comprehensive sports medicine and athletic training services to high school athletes within the New Prairie School District. This collaboration signifies a commitment to the health and well-being of student-athletes, ensuring they receive top-tier care both on and off the field.
"We are excited to support New Prairie High School’s efforts to enhance the athletic training experience for student-athletes," said Simon Ratliff, chief executive officer at Northwest Health – La Porte. "Our sports medicine team will bring expertise, passion, and a personalized approach to each athlete, empowering them to achieve their full potential while prioritizing their health and safety."
Through this partnership, the high school’s two athletic trainers – Julie Griffin, MS, LAT, ATC and Melissa Suth, MS, LAT, ATC – now employed by Northwest Health, will continue to be stationed at the school full time. They will continue to work closely with coaches and student athletes to provide a wide range of services, including injury prevention programs, on-site medical coverage during games, concussion management and rehabilitation services. Sports covered include boys’ and girls’ basketball, girls’ gymnastics, boys’ and girls’ swimming, boys’ wrestling, boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ baseball, girls’ softball, boys’ and girls’ tennis, boys’ and girls’ track, boys’ and girls’ golf, boys’ football, girls’ volleyball and cheer and dance teams.
"New Prairie High School is excited to partner with Northwest Health to provide sports medicine care for our 20 IHSAA sport programs along with our cheer and dance teams,” said Ben Bachman, athletic director for the New Prairie United School Corporation. “The commitment by both Northwest Health and the New Prairie United School Corporation to provide two full-time athletic trainers allows us to elevate our sports medicine program and ensure that our student-athletes receive the highest standard of care. Our student athletic trainers will also benefit from having skilled and experienced athletic trainers to learn from on a daily basis. We are very thankful for this commitment and I know New Prairie High School will benefit greatly."
