Heart Scan Screening
Give your heart a head start and take control of your heart health with Northwest Health's affordable heart scan.
This 30-minute, noninvasive procedure is a cardiac calcium scoring scan that measures the extent of plaque buildup in the coronary arteries.
Cardiac calcium scoring can help predict coronary events, such as heart attacks, and can also assist in catching heart disease in the early stages.
You should consider a calcium scan if you are between ages 40-75 and at a moderate risk for heart disease within the next 10 years but do not currently have symptoms and are not currently on a cholesterol lowering medication. People at moderate risk include those with the following traits:
- Family history of heart disease
- Past or present smoker
- History of high cholesterol, diabetes or high blood pressure
- Overweight
- Inactive lifestyle
To get started, call 219-983-8512, Tuesday and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
*Because this is a community screening, insurance will not be charged.
